Jesus Raises a Widow’s Son
11Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him.
12As
he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the
only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the
town was with her.
13When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
14Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!”
15The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
16They
were all filled with awe and praised God. “A great prophet has appeared
among us,” they said. “God has come to help his people.”
17This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.
This story forms the basis of a book I started writing in 2008 and stopped because I thought the burial actually took place. And the story probably started in 2003, I had just come back from a far land in southern Africa and even as I landed at the airport I took one look at the person who came to pick me and I knew something was definitely wrong....something had changed.
Forward to 2005, my world as I knew it begun to fall apart! And just like the woman in this bible story carried her only son for burial, I too begun to face burial of several things in my life. And by 2007 I lost everything I knew and held dear.
